Kevin Love Trade Rumors: Trail Blazers Showcased Bazemore, Whiteside Deadline
Portland Trail Blazers are said to have attempted to acquire Kevin Love from the Cleveland Cavaliers sometime before the trade deadline.
In the movie The Jason Lloyd, The Jason Lloyd, The Blazers offered expired contracts from Kent Bazemore and Hassan Whiteside in exchange for Love which “is definitely equivalent to just unloading salaries.
If love was to be traded, Blazers would be considered one of the most potential downside areas.
Kevin O’Connor of Ranger’s team reported in December that Love’s preference was to play for Portland, as Bazemore ($ 19.3 million) and Whiteside ($ 27.1 million) contracts were the perfect matches for Love 2019-20 salary ($ 28.9 million).
Love has been signed for three other seasons and will earn $ 91.5 million during the 2022-23 season for every Spottrack.
The Blazers team eventually distributed Bazemore, Anthony Tolliver and future round two contests to the Sacramento Kings of Trevor Ariza, Wenyen Gabriel, and Caleb Swanigan.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, this trade dropped Portland’s luxury tax bill for this season to $ 7 million.
Lloyd indicated in December that Cleveland wanted to choose the first round if they were to participate in the Love game.
A league source told Greg Swartz of B / R on February 4, two days before the deadline, that Cleveland would “have to lose” in a love-to-love deal by including a draft of another team’s pick to take.
Since Cleveland currently has the worst record in the Eastern Conference (14-40), it does not appear to be in a position to abandon the draft assets.
The Blazers team is fighting for a final starting point from the end of all-stars. 25-31 ranked ninth in the Western Conference, four games behind Memphis Grizzlies (28-26).
