Brock Lesnar has made an entire legacy (a whole lot of money). Earlier this year, he endured an embarrassing defeat and lost the Universal Championship to Seth Rollins at WrestleMania before winning it back and then losing it again. And Lesnar just goes missing and comes back again.
When Lesnar tied title belt around his waist, fans berated him, for he was only an occasional wrestler. A lot of fans even wanted him to surrender it since he wasn’t worthy enough or cared enough to defend it.
If Lesnar wins the WWE Championship, fans won’t be tolerating that. There will be a lot of unrest. And doesn’t WWE literally thrive on this?
Lesnar taking home the title will give a fresh start to SmackDown, and maybe even bring about a good sporting feel to it which is one of the reasons why The Beast Incarnate has come back to the show according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
It doesn’t matter if the fans want it because marketing a storyline literally works in the other way.
It also doesn’t help the fans ’cause when Lesnar is quite possibly the biggest superstar in the WWE universe at the moment.
Cena doesn’t care and hardly even comes these days. Randy Orton is past it. And that leaves us with Lesnar.
This can be seen in the reactions of a few fans who claimed Lesnar is the perfect candidate to bring back the glory days of Smackdown back.
WWE is slowly retaining its lost glory back but it needs to widen its audiences to reach where was before the start of the decade.
Kingston is still being labeled as the people’s champion by many fans. But sport, even if it is an entertainment gimmick, doesn’t work that way, does it? Because of a new storyline for the win!
