Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi was congratulated by Pakistan bowling Coach Waqar Younis for taking five wickets in his first Test.
The left-handed archer secured the second day of the second Test match against Sri Lanka at the National Stadium in Karachi on Friday.
Afridi completed his Pachas by dismissing Oshada Fernando (4), Angelo Mathews (13), Dhananjaya De Silva (32), Dilruwan Perera (48) and Lahiru Kumara (0).
On the strength of their strength, Sri Lanka piled on Pakistan for 271 runs in response to 191 runs in the first innings and took the lead of 80 runs.
After Afridi’s stunning performance, Younis praised the youngster on Twitter. He wrote on Twitter, “Not bad since the age of 19 … Hard work always pays off … Congratulations on taking the first wicket out of your many 5 wickets … @iSheenAfridi #PAKvsSL.”
Shah has played seven Tests so far, in which he has taken 24 wickets. By the end of the second day’s play, Pakistan had scored 57 runs without any loss but still managed to score 23 runs with all 10 wickets and managed to play for three days.
Opener Abid Ali – who was the batsman to score the first century in both Test and One-Day in the first match in Rawalpindi – was unbeaten on 32 and Shaan Masood was 21 not out.
The first Test in Rawalpindi ended in a draw due to inclement weather, with both teams fighting for a series win in Karachi. This series is a part of the ongoing World Test Championship i.e. with 9 teams. The two teams which are on the top will play the final in June 2021.
