On 23 June 2020, Jermell Charlo will face Jorge Coto for the WBC junior middleweight champion. His previous opponent, Tony Harrison could not play the match because of the ankle injury.

The contest will be held at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Last December, Harrison had won a controversial twelve round decision by defeating Charlo.

Charlo has to wait till next season to avenge Harrison and regain his title. Defeating Houston and Texas, Charlo won the WBC title defeating John Jackson in 2016.

He has also won 3 defense title for the successful knockouts over Charles Hatley and Erickson Lubin. ”It feels like heartbreak. I was so ready to demolish Harrison and now I am going to get in there and put down Cota.

I always believe and pray for my opponent to have safe care and make it to the fight healthy. It is inimical that Harrison is not my next victim. I need the best Harrison so I want him healed up and ready to go because that will only bring out the very best in me”-says Charlo.

“I feel my title was taken from me and being held hostage and I want it back. I will go through anything to get it back. The moment he’s cleared to fight I want the match and I will get my title back. I’m going on June 23 for a dominant victory with a ferocious attitude and a mindset to destroy, because I know I can’t leave it to the judges anymore.’’- Carlo further adds.
