Pro Football Talk has made a claim that the Jay Gruden videos going viral are apparently more than a year old, if not older.
The Washington Redskins declined to comment asked by NBC Sports Washington’s JP Finlay on videos that went viral Friday showing a man resembling head coach Jay Gruden smoking an unidentified substance (marijuana) while others chant in the background.
Washington coach Jay Gruden is already under the pump, with his team off to an 0-4 start.
There was a report that Gruden didn’t want the organization to draft high-profile rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins this spring — and that Haskins is well aware of this.
Now, Washington has refused to talk about a couple of dangerously embarrassing videos of Gruden (or someone who looks a whole lot like him) that went viral on social media Friday.
The videos were posted on the Twitter account “@bubbachuck757”. The twitter account that initially posted the videos is now private. In this video, Gruden appears in a white t-shirt lying on the ground speaking to an unidentified woman.
In yet another footage, he is spotted smoking around and looking into a camera while someone chants his name with a passion. The Twitter account went on private mode after tweeting the photos mentioning the Redskins official account and its troubled running back.
Gruden hasn’t spoken anything about the tweets or the incident. Some have speculated that Gruden is smoking pot in the first video, but it’s hardly definitive.
Some in league circles wonder whether the team leaked the videos as a precursor to potential termination of Gruden with cause, which would allow the team to fire him without paying the balance of his salary.
It still remains to be officially confirmed as in when the footages were taken. Again, it’s still not even clear if Gruden is the man in the videos. But Washington isn’t denying that it’s him, at least. And that could be the start of Gruden’s early-season exit.
