The fight, which was to take place on December 20 in Honolulu between Josh Barnett (35-8) and Ronny Markes (19-7) will most likely, be transferred to Bellator 241, which is scheduled for March 13.
Barnett’s debut in Bellator in the original date did not occur due to the illness of a former UFC player, which eliminated him from participating in the event.
For Barnett, this will be the first MMA fight in over three years. The last clash in which “Warmaster” took part took place in September 2016, when the American surrendered Andrei Arlovski in the third round.
The 41-year-old is a living MMA legend, who already in 2002 became the UFC heavyweight champion, defeating Randy Couture at UFC 36. In cages around the world, Barnett has been fighting since 1997.
His next UFC fight did not arrive until UFC 164 in August 2013. Burnett, on the other hand, competed for many notable promotions around the world, including PRIDE, K-1 and Strike Force.
He fought his last start in June this year, where at the PFL 3 he defeated Sigko Pasaleli by TKO in the third round. The Brazilian from all 19 wins won 12 times ahead of time. He set a 3-2 UFC record before joining the World Series of Fighting in August 2014.
In 2018, Martez entered the PFL inauguration season but did not appear in the postseason. In June, Marx competed in the 2019 PFL. But he could only play once in the regular season and did not accumulate enough points for the postseason compartment.
The main card will be sent on DAZN after preliminary qualifying for MMA Junkie.
With the addition, the Verator 241 line includes:
Patricio Freire vs.
Emmanuel Sanchez vs.
Paul Daley vs. No. Saba Homasi
Josh Burnett vs. No. Ronnie Marx
