Major changes in the Indian Cricket team’s schedule 2020-21 due to COVID-19 amidst. From the beginning of March, the schedule of the Indian Cricket team had been put off due to the COVID pandemic. The one-day series against South Africa was the first series to postpones. Soon the BCCI made an official announcement in the postpone of 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). Considering the present pandemic all the scheduled fixed at home and abroad will undergo a major change.
Starting with the national camp planned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the contracted cricketers postponed. The camp was scheduled to begin in mid of July. But looking at the present situation it difficult to conduct the camp. According to the recent updates from BCCI, the Australian tour schedule can undergo more changes. However, the COVID patients in the country are increasing largely in numbers.
Considering the risk factors the BCCI has no option than to reschedule the events. Moreover, other mandatory modifications have to be followed by the team. Which includes the mandatory corona test for all the players. Also, there will be no spectators in the stadium, until the official announcements are made. The Australian tour was scheduled for December 3.It consisting of a test match, three 20-20 matches, and three ODI series. However, final confirmation hasn’t yet made by BCCI. But considering the situations, the events can be rescheduled.
Other than the Australian series, the England series is also rescheduled. Earlier the series was fixed in India, consisting of five test matches, five T20’s, and five ODI’s. But as per now, the test matches have been reduced to three. However, in this pandemic amidst there still uncertainty in the England series. The India-south African series was canceled earlier due to COVID. The IPL event scheduled in April has postponed. BCCI hasn’t made a final reschedule for the Indian premier league. The IPL events without spectators are expected to stretch long. In case of the the events, the players have to reach 21 days prior and have to undergo the COVID test. There are chances that the IPL events may conduct in abroad though officials confirmations are not made. It is expected to have the final decisions made in the coming days.

The final decisions regarding the rescheduling of events have not yet announced by BCCI. The BCCI council led by chairman Sourav Ganguly will soon make the final decisions for postponed events. The Indian Premier League schedules are in the most awaiting list. BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced a third BCCI council meeting on 17th July. Moreover, the third council is crucial for the Indian cricket team. Considering the pandemic situation, BCCI has to make a proper decision on future tour programs, domestic schedules and various other aspects.
In the earlier phase of a pandemic, the BCCI has cancelled the South Africa tour. And also earlier an indefinite postponed of schedules were announced. However, the third BCCI council on July 17th will be crucial for the Indian cricket team. All cricket fans in the country are eagerly waiting for the rescheduling events.
