Carmelo Anthony has been an absentee from an NBA uniform since he was canceled by the Houston Rockets last November. Just 10 games into the new season, Rockets general manager, Daryl Morey told Anthony of the move.
This thing came right before the Rockets faced the San Antonio Spurs on November 10, 2018. Durian a conversation on ESPN’s First Take with Stephen A. Smith, Anthony talked about what actually had transpired then.
“He walked in and just like that, said, ‘Look, you are no longer needed here,’” Anthony said of his chat with Rockets general manager Daryl Morey.
“I was shocked. Hold up. What are you even on about, I mean what on earth? … So you are saying that I can’t get into a 9-, 10-man rotation on this team?’”
Former Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes just made their podcast entitled All The Smoke, and during the debut episode, they talked in length on a variety of different topics, including if Carmelo is subject to a blackballing from the competition.
“It’s the same position they did to a lot of the guys before. They took him into a position that they know he is not going to do well and make it look like he is finished, he is cancer, and just get him out,” said Stephen Jackson.
‘Melo [Carmelo Anthony] was from a company guy it must be said, and he is going to talk whatever is in his mind and walk to the beat of his own drum, the way he likes.
They don’t like that kind of thing, there’s no doubt if anyone says that Carmelo is not better than 60 percent in the NBA right now, they are straight-up lying and not talking facts. And it is extremely relative and personal, Melo belongs in the NBA, the top tier,” he added.
