WWE fans were left fuming once Seth Rollins’ Hell during a Cell match all over while not a transparent winner within the main event of Sunday’s card.
Seth Rollins took on Bray ’The Fiend’ Wyatt in a defense of his WWE Universal Championship belt, but the match ended in controversial circumstances.
The match was beaked as a winner-take-all contest, with the match having to finish with a transparent winner. Rollins was obtaining increasingly additional and more pissed off throughout the fight, at a point landing ten Curb Stomps on the challenger.
At the tip of the bout, Rollins hit ’The Fiend’ with a ladder, before throwing a chair on high of him and striking him with a tool cabinet.
Despite Hell in a Cell featuring a very limited number of matches, WWE appears to be pulling out all the stops for what has traditionally been a B-level pay-per-view, treating fans to a pair of blockbuster world title matches inside the cell–Bray Wyatt vs.
Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship and Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks for the Raw Women’s Championship as well as a huge tag team match pitting Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan against Erick Rowan and Luke Harper.
In recent weeks, WWE has made a concerted effort to reinvigorate its programming, which has been plagued by poor TV ratings and decreased fan interest in 2019 as the quality of the overall product has taken a noticeable nosedive.
Next week’s WWE Draft will provide WWE with the opportunity to reset the rosters and should pave the way for some compelling future storylines, but as the last pay-per-view before that highly anticipated draft, Hell in a Cell is one of the most important non-Big Four pay-per-views in recent memory.
