Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has earned the right to get more time to change things around at Manchester United but Brendan Rodgers is the most obvious person to become the club’s next manager.
This has been said by none other than the former Premier League midfielder Robbie Savage, who opined that Rodgers is a top drawer manager and can take Leicester City to a top-four finish this season.
The Foxes have started their new campaign brilliantly, picking up 12 points of their first seven league fixtures to become a threat to the other big clubs trying for the top 4 spots in the Premier League.
Leicester stands seven places and five points ahead of the Ole led Manchester United who is in an abysmal run. They have won just one of their last six games in the Premier League.
Savage is of the opinion that the Northern Irishman can take Leicester City to the Champions League and that combined with his previous achievements should be enough to land him the top job at Europe’s biggest clubs.
In his weekly column for the Mirror, the Welshman wrote: “Brendan Rodgers is taking Leicester City back into the Champions League – and I see him as a Manchester United manager in the future.
Don’t take this wrongly When I mean Rodgers is set for high office at United, I am NOT by any means implying Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be fired. I am not in support of modern football’s reckless hiring-and-firing culture”.
“But I’ve been thoroughly impressed by the work Rodgers has done since he took over this Leicester City side eight months ago that I’m almost sure of Leicester being able to finish in the top four.
The team he has developed in such a short span is so well-drilled and played some eye-catching footy. Hyperbolically, I might even tip them to beat Claudio Ranieri’s 5,000-1 title-winning miracles of 2016.
And Rodgers’ track record is a clear statement not only that he was definitely not wrong to leave Celtic earlier this year – but his next position should be at one of Europe’s top clubs.”
