Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain is desperate to prove his worth to Juventus after unsuccessful spells at AC Milan and Chelsea.
Higuain has been handed a second chance at Juventus now under Maurizio Sarri who he has fond memories with at Italian club Napoli.
The striker did not match the expectations at Chelsea last season and the English club decided to let him leave at the end of a loan spell.
But Higuain returned to Serie A and re-united with preferred boss Maurizio Sarri who also departed from Chelsea after coaching them for a year and guiding the club to Europa League glory.
With Juventus already having the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala, and Mario Mandzukic, Higuain was not expected to feature in the starting line up for the Italian champions.
However, he has started both the Serie A games this season and also scored a stunner against old club Napoli.
Higuain said on Thursday:
“I am here to prove my worth.
“I wanted to stay from the first day I returned. I am happy to be at Juve, at a big club with a great team and a big fanbase, in a city that I know.
“I don’t think about the past, I only have the present and the future in mind. It will be an important season, last year was difficult for me but I still went into double figures and won a Europa League title.
“Now I only think of our season: I have good memories against Fiorentina, I made my Juve debut against them.
“It’s never easy at the Franchi, but we must be strong as we know we are and take home the victory. I’m back on the same team as Cris [Ronaldo] after a few years and he’s even stronger, more complete and ambitious, I’m happy to play with him again.”
The 31-year-old is wearing the No.21 shirt this season and is of the opinion that it his helping him turn the tides.
