National League’s Most Valuable Player, Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers, will have to miss the rest of the season after he suffered a fracture on his right knee cap.
The Brewers outfielder injured his knee during the first innings in the match against Miami Marlins. Yelich had fouled a ball off his right knee which caused the fracture. After the incident occurred, Yelich remained lying on the ground for quite a few minutes while the medical officials looked after his injuries. After being treated by the medical staff, Yelich was walked off the ground for further tests on his knee.
After proper examination with X-Ray tests being done, it was found that the knee had suffered a fracture. Further examinations are said to be conducted in Milwaukee on Wednesday.
Craig Counsell, the manager for Milwaukee Brewers said that the entire team felt awful because of Yelich’s injury. They acknowledged his talent and said that it would be mighty difficult to play without their star player.
But the show has got to go one and Counsell said despite Yelich’s skills not being on display every time, the Brewers team will have to give a proper response to its opponents.
This injury has to be the worst situation the Brewers could face after trying to overcome players being injured during the season. Brewers must bring their A-game if they want to qualify for the playoffs this season.
David Stearns, the president for Brewers’ baseball operations, said that a lot of the players in their club will be badly affected due to this injury.
According to him, this injury is really a big blow to the team but Brewers must bounce back and play really good baseball henceforth.
Yelich has been a key player who has exceeded the expectations of his team, coach and every baseball fan around the world. The team will suffer hugely because of his absence but should not lose focus and carry on.
There are lots of brilliant players in Brewers and they have to step up their game this time.
Brewers had won the match against Miami 4-3.
