Brazilian defender and teammate Thiago Silva believes that Neymar will enjoy a great season at Paris this year with the French champions, Paris Saint-Germain.
Thiago Silva, who is also Neymar’s teammate at PSG, said Neymar is well aware of the mistakes he made during the summer transfer window after his attempt to return to the Camp Nou did not materialize.
Neymar had voiced his desire to return to Barcelona at the end of the 2018-19 season ahead of the transfer window after spending just two years at the Parc des Princes.
Neymar joined PSG for a €222 million (£200m/$245m) fee in 2017, which made him the most expensive player in history. But his time with the French champions was mostly plagued by off-field issues and injuries.
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu revealed last week that Barcelona did everything possible to bring back the Brazilian heavyweight to Camp Nou but the final deal was never agreed.
With Barcelona not expect to go for the forward again in January, it is most likely that Neymar would be staying in Paris for another season.
Thiago Silva was quoted by the reporters after Brazil’s 2-2 draw with Colombia on Saturday:
“He also knows that he has made mistakes but has no bad intentions. This boy is amazing, I hope he’s going to have a great season. It will be unforgettable too because the PSG will celebrate its 50 years.”
Thiago Silva has also revealed that PSG head coach Tomas Tuchel expects Neymar to get back to form and make a big impact for the club this season. Neymar scored for the first time for Brazil since June with coach Tite praising the quality of the talismanic superstar. The 27-year-old could now be in contention to feature for PSG against Strasbourg on Saturday.
