Jesse Fleming was away on the tour with the Canadian national team when Seminoles defeated Bruins by 4-1 last year.
She came back with a blast and remained on top of the box score.
The in-reign NCAA champions, Florida State (2-1-0) were upset by the number 4 UCLA women’s soccer (3-0-0), at the Banc of California Stadium on Thursday. Both the goals were scored by the senior midfielder.
Fleming said that she wished to be with her team last year when she had to go on tour but she is much happier now that she’s with them. It is also going to be very exciting in the future games as we played with the full team spirit and very positively, she added.
Fleming scored her first goal in the 14th minute with a little help of freshman forward Mia Fishel and junior defender Karina Rodriguez which created a series of passing, finally setting Fleming in the penalty box.
Within the next 21 minutes, Fleming scored the second goal, this time with taking help from junior forward Ashley. UCLA took control in its hands after this goal.
However, coach Amanda was hoping for a few more goals. She also added that the game plan which we made was executed strategically.
Florida got a free-kick when midfielder Delanie, in the 76th minute, hit a foul and got a yellow card. The free-kick was done by midfielder Nighswonger.
Micah, talking to the media said that she thought she could do it and that’s why she is a bit disappointed about it.
After the 2nd goal, champions couldn’t score another one so that the game could get overtime. After this win, UCLA will be on the grounds again facing Florida in Wallis Annenberg Stadium on Sunday.
