Former Spain and Real Madrid boss Vicente del Bosque is of the opinion that he would not have looked to re-sign Neymar back from PSG if he was in charge of Barcelona.
Del Bosque firmly believes that half of Barcelona’s fan base would have been against the re-signing of Neymar and that is exactly the reason why the veteran coach would not have considered to bring the Brazilian back to Camp Nou.
Barcelona made efforts to bring back the Brazilian heavyweight this summer but the deal could not materialize before the closing of the transfer window.
Neymar, who has only good memories at Barcelona, had stated that he wants a way out of his current club Paris Saint-Germain after just two years of moving to the French capital.
Real Madrid was also in line to secure the signature of Neymar but had to back out due to the high demands of the French side.
Del Bosque was quoted as saying by Estudio Estadio:
“I think it would have been good for the Spanish league if he had come back but if I was a coach of a club I wouldn’t have brought him back.
“Whilst I’ll say he is a brilliant player, I don’t think very highly of him for other reasons.”
Del Bosque believes that it was not the right choice for Neymar to leave Barcelona which has turned many of the fans against him.
“With Barcelona, he did not behave well, in fact, he behaved badly, very badly.
“If you surveyed Barcelona fans I’m sure that more than half of them wouldn’t want him back. There’s a reason for that.”
Barcelona has signed Antoine Greizmann from Atletico which makes them a strong side with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez upfront with the Frenchman. On the other hand, Neymar remains at PSG with the French side signing Mauro Icardi on loan from Inter on deadline day.
