Brazilian national and Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo wants his fellow national teammate Neymar to return to his former club Barcelona. Melo insists that the entire Spanish club squad and all the supporters are rooting for a Neymar comeback, despite the bitter way the Brazilian attacker and the club had parted.
Neymar’s two-year spell at the French club Paris Saint-Germain didn’t go well and reportedly, he now wants out this summer. If rumors are to be believed, he is pushing hard for a return to Barcelona He left Barca in 2017 for a world-record €222m transfer fee.
Even with Barcelona officials flying to the French capital to negotiate for Neymar, it is quite difficult considering the terms PSG has put forward. According to reports, the French side has demanded Coutinho, Semedo, a third player of their choosing on loan AND €100m in exchange for Neymar. Naturally, Barcelona has declined that offer.
Even if the two clubs come to a favorable deal, doubts will remain over how Barcelona and Neymar will settle their ongoing financial disputes. Currently, the club has taken legal action against him over a loyalty bonus they had paid him as part of a new contract he signed with them in October 2016.
But Arthur is convinced that the Catalan giants will welcome back Neymar with open arms.
“I don’t speak to him about his future. I don’t want to annoy him too much. Everyone asks him about that, but I speak with him about different things. I don’t know if he will come or not, but here we are. Let’s see what happens. Myself, the fans, the players and the team would love him back because he’s an amazing player. I really like playing with him in Brazil. I hope I can enjoy here, too.”
Barcelona will face Napoli for another friendly on Saturday in Michigan.
