Daniil Medvedev Bags His First Cincinnati Masters Title

Learn from your failures and never give up, the inspirational cliche was taken to reality by Daniil Medvedev, the Russian tennis player.

After having been defeated twice in the previous tournament by aces like Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgious, he won his maiden Cincinnati Masters Title 2019. The super energetic and the devoted player and now champion is just 23 years old.

The new Masters 1000 Champion defeated David Goffin of Belgian by 7-6 score in the final match at 2019 Cincinnati Masters. Throughout the tournament, he was seen in the best of forms and had presented a commendable performance at the court in all the three weeks. He defeated the Marine Cilic, Dominic Thiem, Karen Khachanov, Rafael Nadal and David Goffin as the tournament progressed.

Winning the Masters Title is a feat in one’s lifetime, and so is the historic win playing against a world champion. Defeating Rafael Nadal in the semifinals must be the most cherished memory for a lifetime. All playing in sportsman spirit, but defeating a world champion is commendable. His perseverance got him there.

He had lost the previous two tournament finals. Had he lost this, it would have been a hatrick. He said in an interview post the exceptional win, that he was elated that, he prevented his hattrick loss and was delighted that he won his maiden Masters 1000 Championship’s, Cincinnati Masters Title. He had been putting in enormous efforts and hard work which had finally been paid off, the champion quoted.

On the woman’s side, Madison Keys made her way to lift the Cincinnati Masters trophy for the first time. Shee defeated world champions like Venus Williams, Simona Halep, Garbine Muguruza to rightfully earn the Masters title for the women category.
