Rugby World Cup 2019: Italy target Boks for potential upset

The countdown to Rugby World Cup 2019 has begun. It is going to be held in Japan from September 20 to November 2. This is the first time when any Asian country is going to host the Rugby world cup.

With only a couple of days left, all the teams are practicing and strategizing accordingly. Italy is also doing the same. The country has an International ranking of 13.

Italy is kept in Pool B with four other countries, Namibia, New Zealand, Canada, and South Africa. Namibia and Canada are lower in the International ranking than Italy however this is not the case with New Zealand and South Africa.

It is going to be tough for Italy to beat them. Only two teams will qualify from each pool for quarter-finals. So, Italy team knows well that they need to beat Canada and Namibia in any condition. Italy head coach Conor O’Shea feels that his team has the potential to cause an upset against Springboks.

It is interesting to note that the majority of players in the Italy team are young and talented but do not have the relevant experience of playing any world cup before. They are going to make their World Cup debut.

Coach Conor believes that the current team is quite strong and they have the capability to make history in the upcoming matches.

It was difficult for them to pick 31 players for the squad and then informing the others who could not make it to the team was such a tough task.

Before the actual tournament starts and Italy plays its opening match on September 22 against Namibia, they have two warm-up matches lined up against France and England.

Italy has still a long way to go. The team needs to play nothing less than the best to overcome all the hurdles and to become world champions.
