Southampton has secured the services of Kevin Danso from FC Augsburg on a season-long loan.
The English side also has the option to buy the center-back at the end of the season.
The signing of the Austrian defender was the final incoming Premier League transfer deadline day deal announced, hours after the transfer window closed on Thursday.
The Premier League side had reached an agreement with Augsburg before the transfer window closing but waited for the relevant paperwork to be signed off and international clearance secured before making the announcement.
Danso was quoted as saying, “I’m delighted to join a club that has produced a lot of great players.
I’m looking forward to working with such a great coach in Ralph Hasenhuttl as well.
He has also produced a lot of younger players and showed us a huge amount of belief in them.
so I hope I can be another one who can benefit from him. It’s a great opportunity for me to show what I can do.
Southampton is a great club, the manager is a great coach, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity.”
Manager Hasenhuttl also showed his delight at the new signing, “I am very pleased we have been able to bring Kevin into the club.
He fits the profile of the player that we want to bring here to Southampton.
He is in the early part of his career. But he had a good experience already, with a lot of existing qualities and the potential to develop even further.”
The Austrian under-21 international had started his youth career at MK Dons. He is the third and final recruit of Southampton along with forwarding Che Adams and Mali winger Moussa Djenepo at St. Mary’s.
Southampton is to begin their Premier League campaign on Saturday, 17th August, against the mighty Liverpool.
